This is the most popular sandwich in Malaga. in fact only in Malaga you will find it. The first characteristic is the bread that is used: a muffin antequerano, a semi-flat bread, which is perfect for easy filling and eating.
The basic ingredients of the camper with tomato, lettuce onion, cooked ham, cheese and mayonnaise. From there you can add tuna, bacon, chicken fillets, breaded chicken and everything else you can think of.
This sandwich is part of the history of the people of Malaga because they have always eaten them at some point in their lives, especially it is very popular when you finish a night and party and before going to bed when the churrerías are still open. A delight that I hope you like as much as we do.
Ingredients
For the camper
- A large Antequera muffin
- 1 red tomato
- a few fresh lettuce leaves
- 1 fresh onion
- 2 free-range eggs
- 2 slices of cooked ham
- 2 slices of hawarti cheese
For the mayonnaise
- 200 ml olive oil
- 1 egg
- a pinch of salt
- half a teaspoon white wine vinegar
Directions
We make mayonnaise with all ingredients.
Cut the tomato into wheels and the onion into thin wheels.
Fry the onion in a pan with a little oil until it is well browned. In the same pan we make a French omelette with a little salt.
Open the muffin and put mayonnaise at the bottom. On top the onion and tomato. Cover with the slices of cheese and on top the cooked ham. Put the tortilla tortilla on top. We put more mahonés and lettuce leaves.
Cover with the top of the muffin. Crush lightly and put on the grill. If you do not have, we can grill you in the pan putting some weight on top. The characteristic of the camper is that it must be well crushed so that it is easy to eat.
