When this time of the year comes, January and February, I fill my house with oranges and tangerines that we eat at all times. That is why I have other recipes already published with these fantastic fruits. They are two of our favorite fruits, those that occupy my top list, and though available for many months in the year, it is now when they are tastier. Today I bring you these financiers of satsuma, a variety of Japanese mandarins, also called mikan, cultivated in Valencia.THye are very tight tangerines, pitted with much juice.. I love the name and how they tastet, so I decided to prepare a special recipe with them.
In Malaga, in the Valley of the Guadalhorcel the Axarquía and more fertile areas, we also have the great luck of enjoying fresh fruit year-round, and we have the opportunity to get almost all citrus, so there is no excuse to not prepare this simple, but delicious recipe of financiers Make them and succeed!
The financiers are a kind of French biscuits (within the groups of the petit fours that are eaten almost in a bite), and they are made with almonds flour (or ground almonds). They owe their original name to the fact that they were created so that financiers would not stain their hands when eating, and hence the reason for its small size. But I would say that what most characterizes these biscuits is brown butter, almost-burnt butter which gives a delicious flavor (Yes, yes the burnt butter gives a very special flavor).
The cakes are moist and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. A delight to eat almost in a single bite. You don't believe it? Let's go to make them and you'll see.
- 125 g unsalted butter €0.62
- 100 g flour €0.05
- 50 g almond flour (is the same as almonds ground) €0.35
- 1 egg €0.12
- 1 tablespoon honey or molasses (golden syrup) €0,20
- 3 egg whites €0.36
- 160 g sugar €0.15
- the skin of a satsuma Tangerine €0.10
- a pinch of salt €0.01
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder €0.10
- 2 tablespoons of satsuma Mandarin juice €0.15
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract €0.15
Total €2.46, in 18 biscuits financiers so €0.13 per unit. Do you know of something sweeter and cheaper?
Directions
1 Preheat oven to 210 degrees. Grease the molds and place on a baking tray. Reserve.
2. in bowl of electric mixer, put the sugar and Tangerine zest (is still best to grind the sugar with the skin, in a grinder or food processor before putting them in the Blender). Beat so well RID. Add the flour, salt, yeast, honey and the ground almonds and beat one minute to blend well.
3. Add the tangerine juice and vanilla and beat well.
4. Add the egg whites and egg to flour mixture and beat well. With the help of a spatula down what you have is or on the walls so everything is well integrated.
5. Heat the butter in a small skillet or casserole over medium heat, until well browned.
6 Gradually add butter to our Bowl without stopping mixing.
7. When everything is well integrated, fill our molds 2/3 parts. (I did them in a small cast of) Lékué perfect for this recipe)
8 Bake at 160 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes (in the event that you use the Lékué mold, in 8 minutes were ready).
- Decorate with sliced almonds or some chopped pistachios
- If you don't like the flavor of Tangerine, replace them with two more egg whites
- Difficulty: easy
- Preparation time: 1 hour
- Servings: 18 financiers
Between the ingredients in your recipe of Satsuma Financiers include an egg, apart from three egg whites. However in the preparation does not indicate what to do with that egg or rather with your fingertip.
Hello Clara, as you have all the reason. Sorry for the mistake, but the egg is added to the egg whites are added. It is already fixed in the post. Thank you very much for calling and above all many thanks for being here! A hug
Hello I have the recipe on el.horno... but I forgot the honey. Reading the recipe it comes me among the ingredients but not when I have q integrate the mass. Espero q also comes out great without that ingredient. It looks very good.
Thanks
Hi Anna, thank you very much for your comment. you have reason, it did not say when to add the honey! I have already corrected it, but I assure you anyway going out some delicious biscuits. Honey does that they remain moist inside but you'll see that they are just as good. It's a tablespoon of honey which is very little with respect to the total volume, so you come out delicious. Thank you very much for warning and above all many thanks for being here with me!
